Class One News

Class One have had a very busy week this week. The children finished writing their own version of our story ‘Tadpole’s Promise’ and produced some brilliant narratives about change and friendship. We had some very interesting friendships between a dog and a worm, a koi and a turtle, and a chick and a tadpole.

In Maths, the children have been learning about subtracting 2-digit or 3-digit and 1-digit numbers. They were able to apply what they learnt and problem solve some questions.

They finished their Science unit on practical skills and completed an investigation about if the materials sugar, sand and cornflour would dissolve. They were super scientists and drew some interesting conclusions.

In art, the children were produced some brilliant final cave art pieces, and were even able to make their own charcoal.

Thank you all for being super learners this half term, the time has flown by!

Have a fabulous half term and we shall see you on Monday 1st November.
Miss Lovering

Class Two News

Class Two from Bradford and Black Torrington Schools spent the morning at Bridge Mill. The children became archaeologists for the day digging through layers of earth and discovering different items. They got a chance to look at the items that had been found and labelled them. They also had a lesson on how they would dye wool and how wool and linen were woven.

After lunch, they got to meet Richard who talked about being a Roman soldier. The children asked lots of good questions and got some great answers. They got to see the armour that romans would wear, got into two groups and became Roman soldiers learning some commands. All the children had a lovely day and learnt a lot about Romans.

Thank you to Mrs Bunning for organising the day.

Thank you also to all the drivers who transported the children safely.

Have a lovely half-term break everyone.
Mrs Tucker-Grant

Eden and Stan received the Maths Star awards.
Well done to each and every one of you . You all are working so hard to improve and meet the targets that have been set. Keep up the great work and keep smiling!

School News

We have completed the first half term! Well done. With some remodelling and moving around we are making the best use of the space on site. We boast wonderful grounds, a computer suite, an arts room, a beautiful hall for dance and dining. We have welcomed Miss Lovering and Mrs Tucker-Grant and together with Ms Lee and our fantastic MFL teacher, Madame Jordan we make a super team.

Earlier this week Mr John Lawlor visited the school and met the children. He is taking over from Mr Phil Whittley as Chair for the Local Stakeholder Board (governing body). If you are interested in supporting the Ruby Country Hub schools as a governor please do contact me.

Mr Lawlor left the children with a question.

What is absolute zero?  ̊C

Answers to me on the Dojo please (children only).

A huge thank you to everyone involved with the school. It is a lovely place to be and I am thoroughly enjoying my time building it and seeing it grow. I am completely indebted to Rachael who is growing the Bouncy Babies at such a rate. We had 14 babies attend on Monday! We are hoping to start another session on Thursday morning so, if you know anyone who would like to join then please do invite them.

Mrs Carter is doing an amazing job keeping the office in order at both Bradford and Black Torrington schools. She is such a reliable source of information and has successfully made the switch to the new ARBOR site for our permissions. This is not to be underestimated and congratulations to all the parents who swapped with relative ease. This system is quick and easy, thus reducing the workload. Thank you, and please remember to update your details and permissions if they change.

Mrs Tucker-Grant has not been well. She has been ordered to rest and is being carefully monitored by her doctor. We wish her all the best and hope that she returns to school fit and well very soon. I will keep you updated on the situation.

The nights are drawing in so please stay safe out there. Reflective clothing is an absolute essential on these dark nights. COVID cases are on the rise locally and we must remain vigilant. Please do continue use the LFD tests regularly and watch out for the symptoms. Stay safe over half-term and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 1st November.

Have a lovely half-term break.
